Break the Asian Leadership Ceiling
How do multinational companies (MNCs) successfully tap into era-specific opportunities? Founded in Japan after World War II, SONY saw great economic potential in US. SONY invited Westerners as board members and established first international subsidiary in US in 1960. With products innovation and successful selling in US, SONY expanded footprints all over the world.
Today, Asia contributes to 60% of global GDP growth*. For global MNCs to harness economic growth, would it be logical to learn from 1960’s SONY, and leverage more Asians, who know the markets, cultures and dynamics, to lead in Asia?
The reality is nearly 80% of leaders in MNCs in Asia are expats**. Why are MNCs lamenting not enough Asian pipelines to fill top executive positions?
As an Asian leader in a global MNC, Adele experiences a transformational leadership journey. Adele integrates Asian cultures with emphasis on humility and respect for people, and western culture which focuses on leading instinctively, building trust and influencing at various levels. Embracing an authentic identity enables her to grow in professional and personal life.
